Hi, I’m Richard Thompson — an aviation historian and researcher from Hampshire with more than fifteen years of experience studying British airfields and wartime aviation heritage. I hold a degree in History from the University of Southampton (2008), where my early research focused on the development of air defence infrastructure across southern England.
Over the years, my work has centred on documenting disused airfields, preserving personal stories from veterans, and mapping the historical evolution of aviation sites across Hampshire, Dorset, and the Isle of Wight. I combine archival research, site photography, and local interviews to ensure the legacy of these locations remains alive for future generations.
My goal is simple — to make Hampshire’s aviation history accessible, accurate, and engaging. Whether you’re a historian, enthusiast, or simply curious about the airfields that once shaped our skies, Cuckoos Bakery is here to help you explore, learn, and remember.
